DB AR1
The DB AR1 is a very special vehicle, even among Aston Martins. The AR1, or 'American Roadster', is a purpose built touring car meant to typify open top motoring. Available of the U.S. market only, a fixed run of just 99 of these cars has been built.
Based upon the standard DB7 Volante chassis, the AR1 continues the great cooperative tradition with Italian coachbuilder Zagato. Aston Martin and Zagato are names synonymous for grace and style, first working in tandem in 1959 in creating the DB4GT Zagato. With only 19 cars produced, the remaining DB4GT Zagatos are some of the most sought after in the automotive world, carrying extraordinary value.
Power comes from the 435bhp version of the 6.0L V12 used in the DB7GT. The DB AR1 is engineered to be a true open roadster. Production is for the U.S. market only, with Europe getting a Zagato designed Coupe that will remain a Europe-only model.
Shod with the new Pirelli P-Zero Rosso, the AR1 features an exclusive 5-spoke 18" wheel design. The interior of the car is unique, including quilted leather seat inserts and luggage tray, color coded steering wheel, and trim color developed for each customer individually.
Most striking on the AR1 are the lightweight panels, carefully tailored to the vehicle in the best traditions of Aston Martin. This special design is assured exclusivity due to the low number of cars being built, and it's offering only in the U.S. The DB AR1 will surely become one of the most desirable Aston Martins for some time to come due to its unique style, power, and performance.
