A superbly restored, highly optioned and matching numbers “mid-year” 1967 Chevrolet L71 Corvette Roadster, with Muncie 4-speed close ratio transmission. Documented four owners, and driven only 33,000 miles from new.
L71 Corvettes feature; Chevrolet’s famous 427 cubic inch 7.0 liter V8 with 11.0:1 compression ratio, producing 435 h.p. @ 5800 rpm, and creating 460 ft-lbs of torque at 4000 rpm. Mechanical lifters and three Holly two-barrel carburetors make this one of the most sought after and powerful engines of the time.
Completed at the St. Louis Corvette plant in April of 1967, this L71 Big Block was ordered through the Foreign Distributors Division of General Motors by a U.S. serviceman in Saigon, Vietnam. This Corvette was picked up by that service member, upon returning from service in Vietnam on May 16th,1967 from Beyerl Chevrolet in Monroeville PA.
This L71 Corvette received a frame-off restoration completed in June of 2013. While undergoing an extremely thorough restoration; special attention was devoted to using and refurbishing as many original parts, and components as humanly possible. This Corvette is still a matching numbers car, mechanically and still retains its original color combination of Rally Red paint, standard Black interior, White soft top, and Silver wheels. You will not find many restored Corvettes that still retain their original engine, transmission, all body panels, interior door panels, seats, dash pads, seat belts, sun shades, shocks, windshield, and side windows.
